The annual event, which brings together top leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society, runs parallel to the United Nations General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puig, along with CNCCMC technical director and COP vice president Sara Gonz\u00e1lez, arrived in New York to represent the nation. The Presidency highlighted that their participation underscores the Dominican Republic&#8217;s commitment to tackling climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puig emphasized the country\u2019s dedication to key climate initiatives, including strengthening adaptation strategies, ensuring a just energy transition, and implementing national carbon markets. He noted that the delegation&#8217;s attendance is about more than just discussion; it&#8217;s a chance for the Dominican Republic to share its experiences and elevate its voice on a global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Climate change is not a future challenge, but a present one,&#8221; Puig stated. He added that the country has &#8220;reaffirmed its determination to move toward a resilient, low-carbon development model.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The delegation&#8217;s involvement in New York Climate Week is also a crucial part of the preparations for COP30, set to be held in Bel\u00e9m do Par\u00e1, Brazil, in 2025.
