Minister of Industry and Commerce Victor \u201cIto\u201d Bisono, represented President Luis Abinader at a high-profile meeting hosted by the Atlantic Council, bringing together global business leaders and investors. The event took place at the Virgin Hotel in Manhattan as part of the side events surrounding the 80th United Nations General Assembly. Also attending for the DR were Maria Isabel Castillo, Dominican ambassador to the United States and Roberto Herrera, country manager for InterEnergy Holdings in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presidency reported that President Abinader was unable to attend due to severe traffic congestion in New York City, caused by heightened security and the movements of world leaders attending the UN sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting attracted prominent figures from the political, business, and academic spheres, including senior representatives from global corporations such as Amazon, Meta, Visa, Coca-Cola, Google, Citi, and PepsiCo. Multilateral organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) were also present, along with regional business council leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of President Abinader, Minister Bison\u00f3 highlighted the Dominican Republic\u2019s progress in economic growth, investment attraction, digital transformation, and energy transition. He emphasized the country\u2019s strategic role as a gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, underscoring its potential as a regional hub for business and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting reinforced international business interest in deepening partnerships with the Dominican Republic and exploring new investment opportunities\u2014particularly in the sectors of energy, innovation, commerce, and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the key attendees were Adrienne Arsht, Executive Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council; Jason Marczak, senior director of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center; Ed Royce, former chair of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee; Epsy Campbell Barr, former Vice President of Costa Rica; and Fabrizio Opertti, manager of the IDB’s Trade and Innovation Division. Also attending was Sergio D\u00edaz-Granados, executive president of CAF, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event marked a significant step in strengthening ties between the Dominican Republic and the global investment community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
