Medical Technology cover feature examines the rising appeal of the nation as it emerges as a nearshoring hub for global medtech firms seeking supply chain resilience and cost efficiency in the post-pandemic landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The devices are manufactured in industrial free zones that enjoy tax incentives and benefit from international trade agreements. The DR also takes advantage of its strategic geographical positioning next to the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical Technology points out that the Dominican Republic is taking advantage of the nearshoring trend &#8211; the strategic relocation of US manufacturing and supply chain operations closer to primary markets. This shift has enabled the DR to attract increased investment from global medtech firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical Technology reports that the DR now ranks as the third-largest exporter of medical devices in Latin America, with shipments reaching a record US$2.25 billion last year.
