On Friday, 26 September 2025, a Caribe Tours bus with passengers rammed into the Pedro Francisco Bono Metro Line 2 station at John F. Kennedy Avenue and Nunez de Caceres. By Saturday, 27 September at 8:25pm, the metro service was restored, according to the OPRET Metro Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPRET reported that the damaged station access was demolished in under 24 hours to ensure public safety and allow trains to resume normal operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency stated that restoration work on the station’s facade would continue during overnight hours to avoid disrupting service. OPRET has committed to returning the station to its original state as quickly as possible and thanked commuters for their understanding, emphasizing its dedication to efficiency and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caribe Tours, the bus company involved in the collision, issued an official statement detailing the incident that took place at the intersection of N\u00fa\u00f1ez de C\u00e1ceres and John F. Kennedy avenues. According to the company\u2019s report, a speeding SUV ran a red light and struck a Caribe Tours unit. The impact caused the bus driver to lose control, resulting in the collision with the Metro station’s access structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accident left one OPRET employee injured. She was transported to a medical center and is reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
