The Dominican Republic is gearing up for its premier theatrical event, the 12th International Theater Festival (FITE RD 2025), set to captivate audiences from 19 to 30 October 2025. This year, the festival shines a spotlight on Spain as the honored guest country, promising an infusion of dynamic Spanish drama alongside local talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the unifying theme, “Theater is All of Us,” the festival this year will pay special homage to two giants of the stage: beloved Dominican cultural figure Freddy Ginebra (Casa de Teatro) and the Spanish company Teatro Corsario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers say that this year there will be 15 international companies and 17 local companies carrying out performances in theaters, plazas and public spaces, performing the classics and street theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spirit of FITE RD 2025 this year will extend far beyond the capital. Performances are scheduled to take place in numerous cities across the country, making the arts accessible to a wide audience. There will be events in Santiago, Puerto Plata, San Cristobal, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Elias Pi\u00f1a and La Romana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping the event accessible is a core priority for the government, with general admission tickets priced affordably at a single rate of RD$200. Tickets are available for sale at the National Theater box office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the main theatrical productions, the festival is a hub for artistic development and dialogue. The program is packed with enriching, often free, activities designed for the public and theater professionals alike:
\u2022 Free training activities and workshops.
\u2022 Forums and conversations with artists and experts.
\u2022 Book presentations relevant to the world of theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
