Jorge Polanco batted the game-ending single in the 15th inning, leading the Seattle Mariners to defeat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Friday, 10 October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe never give up. We just keep fighting. It doesn\u2019t matter how many innings we play,\u201d Polanco said. \u201cWe just stay ready and wait for the moment. It\u2019s going to come. It was my time, \u201d AP reported when covering the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellow Dominican pitcher Luis Miguel Castillo pitched the 1 1\/3 innings for the win in his first Major League relief appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game is regarded as the longest winner-take-all postseason game in baseball history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local media reports on how Dominicans were incidental in the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners making the cut for the American League Championship. The winner of that championship and the National League Championship will then compete to determine who gets the MLB World Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ALCS championship opens in Toronto on Sunday, 12 October. The ALCS uses a best of seven format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
