The Presidency announced the naming of Alfonso Rodriguez Tejada as new general manager of the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED). Executive Decree No. 653-25 highlights that the appointment is a move to strengthen the technical and management structure of the national electricity sector. Rodriguez Tejada replaces Martin Robles Morillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement comes following the national blackout that impacted most of the power service in the country on 11 November 2025. The blackout originated in the San Pedro de Macoris Substation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rodr\u00edguez Tejada brings a robust background to the role. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from UNAPEC, which is complemented by a Law Degree from CDEP University. Furthering his expertise, he obtained a Master’s in Caterpillar Mechanics from the Institute of the Americas in Miami, Florida, and an MBA in Business Administration from UNAPEC. His credentials also include certifications as an auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 50001, and ISO 14001 standards, underscoring his technical and managerial acumen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His professional career spans both the private and public sectors. Notably, he has served as Maintenance and Cogeneration coordinator at Implementos y Maquinarias CxA, engineering manager for Grupo Le\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nes, General Director of Green Future Renewable Energy in Granada, Spain, and director of Cobra Energ\u00eda in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In government, Rodr\u00edguez Tejada held several high-level positions. Between 2020 and 2024, he served as Vice Minister of Energy Saving and Efficiency and also as Vice Minister of Nuclear Energy. Most recently, he had been serving as Vice Minister of Electric Energy since February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
