The deluge, which started in the pre-dawn hours, left major thoroughfares completely flooded. Heavily affected areas included the Malec\u00f3n, Avenida Luis Ginebra, the Avenida Col\u00f3n and the connector road between the city\u2019s two ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The situation was particularly critical in the southern and western sectors of the city. The overflowing of several creeks in these neighborhoods caused water levels to rise above the waist in some areas, severely hampering traffic and posing significant risks to pedestrian safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City officials were deployed to the affected zones since early Monday morning.
