The Banreservas Cultural Center has officially announced its Fifth Theater Season, a month-long celebration of Dominican performing arts dedicated this year to the illustrious actor, director, and playwright Giovanny Cruz. Running from 7 to 29 March 2026, the festival will feature eight diverse productions across three venues in the cities of Santo Domingo and Santiago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season, conceived by artistic director Guillermo Cordero, aims to strengthen the national theater circuit by providing a platform for independent companies and fostering new audiences. This year’s selection spans contemporary drama, historical narratives, psychological monologues, and family-oriented performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sala Ravelo, Eduardo Brito National Theater (Santo Domingo)
These evening performances highlight seasoned talent and introspective themes:
\u2022 La gran depresi\u00f3n: 7 March (8:30pm) and 8 March (6:30pm). Directed by Indiana Brito, starring Elvira Taveras and Lumy Lizardo.
\u2022 El desahogo de una viuda: 14 March (8:30pm) and 15 March 15 (6:30pm). Directed by Danilo Taveras, featuring Niurka Mota and Alexander Delgado.
\u2022 Liborio: 21 March (8:30pm) and 22 March (6:30pm). A production by Teatro Guloya, directed and performed by Dimitri Rivera.
\u2022 Mis tres suegras: 28 March (8:30pm) and 29 March (6:30pm). Directed by Josema Rodr\u00edguez, featuring an ensemble cast including Pamela de Le\u00f3n and Karla Hatton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Banreservas Cultural Center (Colonial City, Santo Domingo)
Designed for family and student audiences, these shows begin at 5:30 pm:
\u2022 Las f\u00e1bulas de Juan Nin\u00ed: 14 and 15 March. Written, directed, and performed by Carlota Carretero.
\u2022 El camar\u00f3n encantado: 21 and 22 March. Produced by Teatro Sonrisitas and directed by Ernesto L\u00f3pez.
\u2022 Para subir al cielo: 28 and 29 March. An Anacaona Teatro production directed by Lucina Jim\u00e9nez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Banreservas Cultural Center (Santiago)
\u2022 Emocionario: 14 and 15 March. Created and performed by Lorena Oliva.
\u2022 La Odisea: 21 and 22 March. An adaptation directed and performed by Lorena Oliva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the announcement, Giovanny Cruz expressed his gratitude, describing the tribute as receiving an honor from his own family. Reservas bank officials emphasized that supporting the theater is a pillar of their institutional responsibility, ensuring that the “curtain stays up” for the Dominican creative community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
