More flights from Dominican airports to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) are happening. PHL handled more than 30 million passengers in 2025, making this an attractive source market for Dominican travel. Of the total passengers using PHIL, over 4.1 million were traveling to and from international destinations, an increase of 7.5 percent from 2024, including many that are choosing the airport as their gateway to the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport is currently under major expansion and improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Airlines announced it has added new flights to Philadelphia International Airport. \u201cThe arrival of Aerom\u00e9xico, flying to Mexico City, and the launch of new seasonal flights from American Airlines to Edinburgh and Milan, and Frontier Airlines to Santiago, Dominican Republic, gave our passengers even more exciting international options last year,\u201d said City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation Chief Commercial Officer Kate Sullivan. \u201cWith nonstop service to Prague and Budapest this spring, along with the FIFA World Cup, America\u2019s 250th birthday, and other showcase events and activities, we anticipate our international volume to grow even more this year,\u201d she said recently announcing what\u2019s new for PHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Airlines nonstop flights to Santiago (STI) in the center of the Dominican Republic will be available four times per week starting 21 May. It is the first time this service is offered since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, AA. has announced daily seasonal flights in time for peak summer travel for the capital city of Santo Domingo\u2019s Las Americas International Airport (SDQ), restarting in May, as well. The Philadelphia press is reporting that the demand was such that the flights are beginning one month ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American is also offering twice daily summer flights to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) from Philadelphia International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PHL also experienced growth in cargo operations for the first time since 2021. More than 482,000 tons of airmail and freight were handled by PHL\u2019s partners in 2025, up 7.4 percent over 2024. This is an opportunity for exporters to reach the Philadelphia markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
