In a move to facilitate travel during the peak of the Easter holiday, the RD Vial Trust, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) has announced that all toll booths nationwide will suspend collections on Good Friday, 3 April 2026, a national holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The measure applies to every station managed by RD Vial along the national highway network. This includes high-traffic arteries such as the Duarte Highway, Las Am\u00e9ricas, 6 de Noviembre, the Coral Highway, and the Northeast Highway (Autopista del Nordeste).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infrastructure and safety readiness
To accommodate the surge in travelers, RD Vial and MOPC have ramped up maintenance and safety protocols. Key operational details include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Clean Roads Program” has intensified operations across its 4,500-kilometer scope to ensure optimal conditions before and after the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Military and Police Commission (COMIPOL) will deploy over 200 units at strategic points. Travelers facing mechanical failures or emergencies can access free assistance by dialing 511 from any phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those traveling on roads are recommended to appeal to the 511 for any emergency on the road. In case of any car trouble, it is preferable to call the 511 for assistance to avoid a possible road scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enhanced road network for 2026
Authorities noted that the Dominican road network enters the 2026 Easter season with several recent infrastructure upgrades designed to reduce congestion. These include:
Ban\u00ed Bypass. 19.8 km. 17 bridges. Avoid passing through Ban\u00ed city for shorter driving times.
Avenida Ecol\u00f3gica. 12 km. extension on this new direct connection between Ciudad Juan Bosch and Las Americas Expressway.
Eastern Tourist Boulevard. New solar LED lighting for improved nighttime visibility.
La Altagracia signage. Standardized safety markers on Punta Cana roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RD Vial urges all motorists to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and respect traffic signals to ensure a safe holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
