The New York Mets have placed star outfielder Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list (IL) due to a right calf strain. The move, announced on 06 April 2026, is retroactive to 4 April 2026. While initial evaluations suggested the 27-year-old might avoid a long-term absence, an MRI confirmed the strain, and the club now expects a recovery timeline of two to three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The injury occurred during the first inning of the 3 April 2026 game against the San Francisco Giants. Soto appeared to tighten up while advancing from first to third base on a single by Bo Bichette and was subsequently removed from the game. Soto noted that the discomfort felt similar to a previous left calf issue he managed in 2022, though he described this current strain as “minor” and expressed optimism regarding his recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To fill the roster vacancy, the Mets promoted infielder Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse. During Soto’s absence, the team is expected to utilize a combination of Tyrone Taylor, Brett Baty, and Jared Young in the outfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soto was off to a strong start in his second season with the Mets, posting a .355\/.412\/.516 slash line through eight games. If his recovery follows the projected two-to-three-week window, he could target a return to the lineup during the series against the Minnesota Twins, which is scheduled to begin on 21 April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
