The infrastructure suffered severe structural failure following a recent and significant rise in the river&#8217;s water level along the strategic Touristic Highway (Carretera Tur\u00edstica).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary objectives are to restore road connectivity and ensure the safety of citizens traveling to key tourist destinations and rural communities. The road is an alternate route from Puerto Plata to Santiago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bridge collapsed under the pressure of recent intense rainfall that caused the river to swell beyond its capacity, forcing authorities to preemptively close the area to traffic to prevent accidents and protect lives. The total removal of the damaged sections is a prerequisite for the installation of a modern structure designed with higher standards of resilience and safety to withstand future hydrological events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is being executed by the engineering firm Constructora Estrella, which is responsible for the construction of a new 135-meter-long bridge. This major infrastructure project aims to return traffic flow to normal on the Tourist Highway and strengthen the provincial road network.
