The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) and meteorologist Jean Suriel have issued urgent weather advisories as a pre-frontal trough combined with a cold front system brings heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to the Dominican Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution due to significantly reduced visibility during heavy downpours. Dangerous surf and high tides are forecast for the north coast from Samana to Montecristi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The East Coast is spared from the bad weather alerts, nevertheless. The East Coast is the least impacted, but Indomet reports small boats should not operate due to turbulence in the Atlantic Ocean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Updated alert levels
The COE bulletin released at 10:30pm on Wednesday details the following provincial statuses:
Red Alert (2 Provinces): Puerto Plata and Espaillat (on the north coast)
Yellow Alert (10 Provinces): Santo Domingo (including Greater Santo Domingo), National District (DN), Santiago, La Vega, Monse\u00f1or Nouel, Duarte (specifically the Lower Yuna region), Maria Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, Hermanas Mirabal, San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa and Montecristi.
Green Alert (10 Provinces): San Crist\u00f3bal, San Juan, Dajab\u00f3n, El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a, S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez, Monte Plata, Santiago Rodr\u00edguez, Peravia, Saman\u00e1 and Valverde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current conditions and geographic impact
Meteorologist Jean Suriel reports that heavy rainfall and intense wind gusts are already impacting Constanza and Valle Nuevo in the La Vega province in the Central Mountain Range area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
