The relatives of Deivy Carlos Abreu Quezada, a 40-year-old garbage truck driver, are publicly denouncing delays in the judicial process against the men accused of his killing. Despite the existence of video footage capturing the fatal incident in Santiago de los Caballeros, the victim’s family maintains that the prosecution has not moved with the necessary speed to ensure justice for the father of four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While preliminary reports initially indicated the confrontation began after Abreu\u2019s truck accidentally brushed against a motorcyclist, a more complex theory is now circulating among investigators and the public. Reports suggest that the group of motorcyclists involved may have been a gang of debt collectors (“cobradores”). The National Police is currently investigating this lead to determine if the attack was a spontaneous act of road rage or a more coordinated effort related to the group’s alleged activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public prosecutors from the Attorney General Office have officially assigned a provisional legal qualification to the case, charging the suspects with homicide and criminal association. According to the case file, prosecutors argue that the defendants acted with a clear and deliberate intent to cause a fatal outcome. Among those identified in the legal records are Adony Antonio Ure\u00f1a Ventura, Andr\u00e9s Moncl\u00fa Gonz\u00e1lez, Carlos Andr\u00e9s Roa Mor\u00e1n, Miguel Garc\u00eda Balbuena, Joanfrny Joel N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Juan Carlos Soto Ortiz. Kevin Francisco Metz Cruz is accused of stabbing the victim, causing Abreu to bleed to death. Metz is on the run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Police continues to conduct search operations to locate the fugitive while the Ministerio P\u00fablico (prosecution) compiles further evidence to substantiate the criminal association claims in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The preliminary prosecution report indicates that Abreu sought to evade the gang for around 23 minutes before being stabbed in his right leg during the chase on 17 April 2026. At the end, in his desperation, Abreu moved into the parking lot of the Santiago Palace of Justice where he was overtaken by the mob on wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
