The National Health Service (SNS) has presented a robust medical assistance strategy for the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, scheduled to run from 24 July to 8 August 2026. The plan guarantees 100% free, high-quality medical coverage for all participating athletes, delegations, and visitors across the various host venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNS director Julio C\u00e9sar Landr\u00f3n detailed the initiative during the International Congress of Sports Medicine, held at the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame on 4 May 2026. Dr. Landr\u00f3n emphasized that since the Dominican Republic was designated as the host, the institution has undergone a sustained expansion of its operational capacity to meet international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key medical facilities for the Games
The health network comprises over 40 hospitals specifically prepared for the event. This network is designed to provide immediate response and advanced medical care:
\u2022 Primary Referral Center: The Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City in the Distrito Nacional will serve as the main command and referral hub. It features high-resolution capabilities, specialized medical units, and dedicated Intensive Care Units (ICU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Specialized Trauma Support: Key facilities include the Dr. Dario Contreras and Ney Arias Lora trauma hospitals, the Marcelino Velez Santana Hospital, and the Juan Bosch Trauma Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Regional Coverage: Dedicated hospitals in sub-host provinces are integrated into the network to ensure national coverage at every sporting venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational Logistics and Specialized Services
To ensure uninterrupted care and rapid response, the SNS has implemented several logistical safeguards:
\u2022 Mobile health units: On-site medical centers will be stationed at sports venues for immediate intervention during competitions.
\u2022 Emergency response: A coordinated fleet of ambulances, 911 Emergency System units, and aero-ambulances, supported by hospital-based heliports, will be on standby.
\u2022 Technical redundancy: Hospitals are equipped with dual-circuit power systems, backup generators, and high-tech diagnostic equipment (MRI and CT scans).
\u2022 Medical specializations: The plan includes experts in sports medicine, advanced traumatology, spinal neurosurgery, dermatology, and otolaryngology to address injuries specific to high-performance athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
