The National Health Service (SNS) is seeing a significant shift in public perception, with the latest Gallup poll revealing that 51.8% of the population views the government\u2019s performance in the healthcare sector as “good.” The survey, conducted between 28 April and 1 May 2026, places healthcare among the highest-rated areas of national public administration. 1,200 potential voters were interviewed in person for the poll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The positive data coincides with a reported surge in hospital productivity. According to SNS records, the public network provided over one million additional medical assists during the first four months of 2026 compared to the same period in previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the direction of Dr. Julio Landr\u00f3n, the SNS has shifted toward a high-visibility management style. Since January, Landr\u00f3n has conducted a series of provincial tours to evaluate hospital needs firsthand. This “boots-on-the-ground” approach has been linked to the acceleration of several infrastructure projects, including the remodeling and expansion of specialized units intended to reduce patient wait times and improve response capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial sustainability and “zero debt”
One of the most significant shifts in the network’s operational health is the move toward fiscal autonomy. Centralized fiscal oversight has led to a landmark achievement this year with more than 70 public hospitals having reached “zero debt” status, achieving financial self-sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fiscal turnaround is supported by the phased implementation of a modern, integrated management system. The new framework digitizes and streamlines human resources and payroll, warehouse and supply chain logistics, procurement and transportation, operational audits.
