He won the award after leading Spanish league team Valencia Basket to a historic comeback against Panathinaikos, overcoming an early series deficit to secure the club’s first-ever Final Four berth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His spectacular playoff performance, averaging 18.6 points, 5.8 assists, and an efficiency rating of 26.8, earned him the Playoffs MVP and a spot in the All-EuroLeague First Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These accolades were added to his historical “Rising Star” award, cementing his status as one of the brightest young stars in European basketball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The award caps a remarkable individual season for the 22-year-old, who had already claimed the Rising Star trophy and earned a place on the All-EuroLeague First Team before adding Playoffs MVP to his collection. It is only the second time Euroleague Basketball has presented the honor, but Montero made it his own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Montero came up the ranks in basketball in the Dominican Republic and polished his skills during a NBA camp given in Santo Domingo. He would go on to play in the Spanish basketball system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
