President Leonel Fernandez has confirmed that Hector Valdez Albizu will continue at the helm of the Central Bank. Decree 429-10 establishes that Valdez and his deputy, Clarisa de la Rocha will continue in their posts. Decree 430-10 also confirmed the members of the Monetary Board. Valdez Albizu is a career official at the Central Bank, entering in 1970. He first served as governor of the Central Bank in August 1990-1994 under then President Joaquin Balaguer. He continued through 1996, and was then confirmed during President Fernandez’s first term (1996-2000). He later returned to the Central Bank on 16 August 2004 to present. <\/p>\n
