The Dominican Republic men and women’s teams at the 53rd Senior Caribbean DR leads in regional table tennis that ended last week (12-19 August) in Jamaica brought home seven gold medals. In key matches of the tournament, Emile Santos got the better of Michael Nanton of T&T in the fifth and deciding encounter. The DR won in team and individual categories (Emil Santos, Juan Vila Jr and Samuel Galvez) and in women’s (Eva Brito, Johenny Valdez and Kircia Diaz) and in men’s doubles (Emil Santos and Juan Vila Jr). They also won gold in female doubles (Eva Brito and Johenny Valdez) and in men and women Sub-21 with Samuel Galvez and Eva Brito. In superior, the gold went to Juan Vila JR. <\/p>\n
In the final, Juan Vila Jr matched legendary T&T player Dexter Saint Louis, defeating him 4-1. Dexter St. Louis had defeated Dominican Emil Santos in the semi-finals. <\/p>\n
