The Aguilas won the first of the 9-5 playoffs series against the Leones del Escogido last night. Pitcher Lorenzo Barcelo, who had not been able to win a single game against the Escogido during the regular season, kept the Escogido at bay for eight innings. The game ended 1-0. Barcelo only allowed four hits in his eight innings. He struck out six players, and Relief pitcher Miguel Batista finished the game for the Aguilas. Major League opening pitcher Francisco Liriano allowed two hits and a run. He allowed a run in the first inning thanks to base play and a hit by Hector Luna.<\/p>\n
