According to a report in Listin Diario, President Leonel Fernandez and PRD president Miguel Vargas Maldonado will sign an agreement on Monday afternoon, 6 February, for the formation of a new collegiate structure in the computer center at the Central Electoral Board (JCE). <\/p>\n
Both men expressed their gratitude for the mediation by senior figures in the Catholic Church, headed by Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez.<\/p>\n
According to PRD General Secretary Orlando Jorge Mera, before signing this agreement Vargas Maldonado discussed the official PRD position with the party’s presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia. <\/p>\n
The computer centre is under the temporary management of Frankin Frias who has been consistently objected to by Mejia. However, Mejia and Vargas have agreed a position to end the impasse and this will be sent to the PLD. Although the details are not known, Jorge Mera stated that the proposal respected all sides.<\/p>\n
