The event is the world&#8217;s most complete watersports competition in four categories. This year a new class of elite and multi-sport waterman\/woman has been created.<\/p>\n<p> The Master of the Ocean was conceived to challenge the most skilled surfers, windsurfers, kitesurfers and subsurfers with five days of extreme water skills. There is around RD$3 million in prize money. The event is sponsored by Cabarete businesses with the backing of the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Sports.<\/p>\n<p> It was originally conceived as the &#8220;Iron Man of Water Sports&#8221;, by German waterman Marcus Bohm, and today continues to run strong in popularity with top-notch sportsmen and women from around the world.
