Citizen Participation, a civil society watchdog group, has given a glimpse at spending in today&#8217;s Hoy newspaper. Total political spending shows that the ruling PLD is spending 3.5 times what the opposition PRD is spending, with 70% being spent by the PLD and just 20% by the PRD. Total expenditures in January were over RD$58 million according to the group of observers. The PLD spent RD$41 million and the PRD spent RD$11.9 million. Dominicans for Change were in third place with expenditures that made up only 5% of the total. Citizen Participation said that they regretted the fact that the country was going into yet another election without a law that controls the election campaign process.
