Yesterday, Thursday 23 August, Candida Montilla de Medina took over the First Lady’s Office, and declared that her work would concentrate on women, children and families, by supporting several state organizations. <\/p>\n
She said that since the election campaign, she has promised to create a space for combining government and state support for the benefit of the country, stating: “now is the time to turn words into action.” <\/p>\n
Although she did not mention any specific immediate actions, she said she would be holding a press conference soon, to outline her strategy and concrete proposals. <\/p>\n
Several leading women PLD members, including Education Minister Josefina Pimentel, Higher Education Minister Ligia Amada Melo, Women’s Minister Alejandrina German and Senator Cristina Lizardo attended the event.<\/p>\n
