Electricity distribution company EdeSur has announced that because of a lack of generation attributed to the shutdown of several generators, a deficit in the supply created the need for them to shut down 48 circuits, nine of which were in the so-called “24-hour” category. They explained that “due to the situation in EdeSur they were obliged to take some 24-hour circuits out in order to provide service to some “C” and “D” circuits that had passed their blackout times.” The national system had a 200-megawatt deficit yesterday, Monday 4 February with a demand of 1,800 megawatts and a production of 1,600 megawatts.
