The block of organizations that make up the Dignified Education Coalition (Coalicion Digna) believes that the teachers who work a single session could only earn RD$13,740, even with incentives. The Coalition said that with the proposal by the Ministry of Education of a 20% wage increase, 81% of teachers would have wages of less than RD$15,000 per session (morning, afternoon and evening sessions). In a document sent to El Caribe, the Coalition says that it “is false that a significant improvement in the salaries of the teachers threatens the goals that we conceived as we fought for the 4% of GDP for the pre-university educational process.” The note goes on to list the increase in money to be received by the Ministry of Education (some RD$47.5 billion more) and details the expenditures needed for the construction of the 10,000 classrooms promised by President Medina. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
