The two pilots who were killed when their plane crashed during the Caribbean Air Show on the Malecon in Santo Domingo on Sunday, 7 April, Rafael Eduardo Sanchez Astacio aged 27 and Carlos Manuel Guerrero Guerrero, 25, were laid to rest with full military honors yesterday, Tuesday 9 April.<\/p>\n
They were buried in Parque del Prado cemetery near San Isidro Air Force base. The funeral was attended by family members and hundreds of members of the Air Force. <\/p>\n
As they were buried, a squadron of Super Tucano drug interceptor planes performed an air acrobatic display. <\/p>\n
During the ceremony, the head of the Air Force, General Ramon Hernandez Hernandez highlighted the qualities of the two pilots and said that their strength and dedication that took them from humble backgrounds into a military career was an example to all.<\/p>\n
