Reporters from El Nuevo Diario newspaper talked to people in several barrios in Santo Domingo yesterday, Tuesday 11 June and found that while they supported the policy of mixed Police-Military patrols on the streets, they also want more of them inside the barrios. The members of the public interviewed said that they felt safer as a result of the measures introduced by the National Public Safety Plan, but they pointed out that the patrols were almost entirely on the major thoroughfares.
