According to speleologists and local authorities, divers have discovered the largest underwater cave in the whole island of Hispaniola, 1000 meters long and at a depth of 25 meters. The cave is situated in the underwater Choco Park in Puerto Plata province, off the north coast.<\/p>\n
The discovery was made by divers from the Dominican Speleological Society (DRSS), and could be converted into a major attraction for specialist cave divers from around the world, according to cave researchers Philip Phelton, Eric Hertsens, Dave Bratt, Christal Pitaro and Victoria Alexandro. <\/p>\n
They said that the cave has at least two entrances and is one of the most beautiful they have ever seen with unique geological formations, collapsed rocks, a dry cave and many more details to discover.<\/p>\n
