San Cristobal Judge Jelvin Koury Lorenzo has sent a former Lieutenant Colonel, Johan Emilio Liriano Sanchez, to jail in Najayo on three months remand. He is linked to a group of drug dealers and hit men. <\/p>\n
The public prosecutor from San Cristobal, Diomeris Soto, said that she hoped when the case came to trial he would be convicted and sentenced for money laundering and murder. <\/p>\n
His defense attorney said they would assess the judgment before deciding whether or not to appeal.<\/p>\n
Liriano Sanchez, who served as an adviser to the former chief of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) was stripped of his job on 14 November. According to a police report he could not justify his possession of several properties, belongings and bank accounts valued at more than RD$30 million. <\/p>\n
