Frank Rainieri, the savvy businessman who heads the Punta Cana Group, has issued a call to tone down the debates over the decision by the Constitutional Court on nationality. In the lead article in today’s El Caribe, Thursday 12 December, Rainieri calls for setting aside the “diatribes” and “radical stances” in order to find solutions that contribute to solving the national immigration situation and other “big problems” that the Dominican Republic is facing. <\/p>\n
He told reporters that “this is no longer a discussion; it is a fight wherein we are insulting each other instead of finding a solution to the problem.” He said that he has never seen the country so divided in all of his life,” not even when Trujillo was killed or during the April Revolution, and this is pitiful.” <\/p>\n
Rainieri said that the illegal immigrants have the most to gain from the National Immigration Regularization plan, as employers will have to recognize their rights.
