The boat was rescued near Nisib&oacute;n along the eastern coastline. The family members of the passengers had alerted authorities that the boat had left on 3 January and that they hadn&#8217;t heard from their relatives since. The survivors said they had paid RD$6,000 to make the crossing. They spent 12 days at sea.
