{"id":41121,"date":"2001-09-17T01:43:56","date_gmt":"2001-09-17T01:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/pages\/politics-before-anything\/"},"modified":"2001-09-17T01:43:56","modified_gmt":"2001-09-17T01:43:56","slug":"politics-before-anything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2001\/09\/17\/politics-before-anything\/","title":{"rendered":"Politics before anything"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Hipolito Mejia confirmed on Friday, 14 September that controversial lawyer Pedro Romero Confesor was elected a Supreme Court judge because former President Joaquin Balaguer had made the request. &#147;That is responsibility of the PRSC,&#148; he said when asked about the appointment. &#147;President Joaquin Balaguer asked for it [for Romero Confesor] and it was granted.&#148;  Romero Confesor was regarded by the late PRD leader Jose Francisco Pe&ntilde;a Gomez as one of his greatest foes.
