A Santo Domingo court has ordered Barcel&oacute; to pay more than RD$11 million in compensation for breaking its distilling and distribution contract with the Spanish company. The 1999 contract, signed by both firms, included the acquisition of Barcel&oacute; &amp; Co. by Gonz&aacute;lez Byass. The contract, worth over RD$120 million, was cancelled by Barcel&oacute; in September 2000.
