Following a tender, the state sugar mills were leased for 30 years as follows: Consorcio Azucarero del Caribe (Conazucar): Rio Haina, Consuelo, Boca Chica, Ozama and Quisqueya. Central Azucarera del Este: Porvenir and Santa Fe. Consorcio Azucarero Central: Barahona. Consorcio Agroindustrial Ca&ntilde;a Brava: Amistad and Montellano.
