Minister of Public Works Miguel Vargas said that the government is investing RD$12 million to correct a Duarte Highway design error that has resulted in 52 deaths, more than 300 injuries, and millions of dollars lost to traffic accidents. The dangerous curve, known as "Curva de la Muerte" is at Km. 40 of the highway, near Villa Altagracia. The Worldwide Trade and Consulting-Oresta firm and the Consultora Transporte y Vialidad S.A. are contracted for the project.
