The Listín Diario, the nation’s leading newspaper, is sponsoring a campaign to improve spelling at a nationwide level. The newspaper publishes a serialized spelling pamphlet every Tuesday. On Sunday, though, the front page of the Listin featured a big blooper in an oversized front page title. The headline read: "Pasientes criollos no quieren hospitalizarse con haitianos." The word "pasientes" (pacientes) was erroneously written with "s" instead of "c". In its Monday edition, the newspaper says it is very embarassed and apologizes. It explains the misspelled word got in when late in the night there was a change in the headline. This could have been the most obvious blooper in the history of Dominican journalism.
