TV producer Freddy Beras-Goico said that he was offered the vice presidential candidacy of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana but did not accept. He said he is not interested in becoming a politician. "My character clashes with the political system, where you have to give in too much and be diplomatic. If I were sworn in as President on 16 August, by 11 am there would be about 70 persons in jail, and then imagine who would put up with me," said the popular television show producer. He said that he likes being free from commitments and being able to denounce wrongdoings. He described himself as "totally independent."
