The Listín Diario has taken upon itself the reconstruction of the Parque Mirador del Sur, the city’s principal park, that is to Santo Domingo what Central Park is to New York City. The eight kilometers long by half a kilometer wide park is intensely used by walkers, volleyball players, cyclists, roller skaters, for picnics, and birthday parties.
