Journalist Marino Zapete revealed that his monthly water bill had gone up from RD$96 in December of last year to RD$1,718 this month, without his consumption having increased. The exponential cost of water service is common all across the capital city. The CAASD (the governmental department in charge of the service) had explained that water meters were to be installed, and people would be billed per consumption.
