As reported in El Caribe, Luis Eludis Perez called it &#147;abusive&#148; that the airline charges US$600 for an economy ticket to the DR while it sells a round trip to Japan for US$605, and New York-Honolulu goes for US$630. He attributes the high fares to the virtual monopoly the airline has on the New York-Santo Domingo route. AA routes to the DR are said to be the company&#146;s most profitable.
