Arturo Rodriguez, director of the National Cinema Department, announced that
\nscenes of The Good Shepherd directed by Robert De Niro and starring De Niro
\nhimself, Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon will be filmed here this summer. The film
\nwill tell the history of over 40 years in the CIA, through the eyes of James
\nWilson, one of its founding officers. Rodriguez said scenes would be filmed in
\nSan Pedro de Macoris, 40 minutes from Santo Domingo. He explained that sets
\nwould be set up to film in the DR scenes from several places in Central America,
\nCuba and Leopolville, capital of then Belgian Congo. The film has a US$110
\nmillion budget, a large portion of which will go to the actors. This is the
\nsecond mega budget Universal Films production announced for the DR. Michael Mann
