The Elliot Group has taken over the former Melia Caribe and will be reopening it as a 240-room hotel with casino, and access to golf in the area. The hotel is located on the restaurant and hotel boulevard on Juan Dolio&#8217;s beach and golf area. Reyson Pimentel and Lorenzo Arranz, spokesmen for Sun Village Resort &#038; Spa, also told El Caribe that their Cofresi Sun Village would be opening 126 luxury suites this March. This is in addition to a 5,000 square meter spa currently under construction in the Puerto Plata hotel.
