The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will help fund the Boulevard Turistico del Atlantico toll road linking Samana’s El Catey International Airport and the town of Las Terrenas.<\/p>\n
The IDB announced it would lend up to $44.8 million without a sovereign guarantee. The Boulevard Turistico del Atlantico project will also have joint support from other bilateral and multilateral institutions. Financing will total approximately US$149 million.<\/p>\n
The project includes the concession for a 123-kilometer toll highway with two components: rehabilitation of 99 kilometers of existing highway connecting Nagua, Sanchez, Samana, El Limon and Las Terrenas, and construction of a new 24km stretch that will connect Las Terrenas and Majagual on the Samana peninsula.<\/p>\n
Overseeing this initiative, whose total estimated cost is US$178 million, will be a consortium made up of Colombian construction firms Odinsa and Grodco, and highway concession holders Consorcio Remix of the DR.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
