The largest water sport event in the Dominican Republic, Master of the Ocean, once again takes front stage on the shores of Cabarete from 24-28 February. Now in its eighth year, Master of the Ocean 2010 will showcase more than 80 national and international athletes competing in surf, kitesurf and windsurf. Although there is a winner crowned in each category, only a select few aspire to be “Master of the Ocean”, by accumulating sufficient points in all three disciplines. <\/p>\n
This year, a new category will also be added to Master of the Ocean 2010: Stand up paddle board; an emerging water sport that has gained popularity in recent years.<\/p>\n
Just as in years past, onlookers can enjoy the competition coupled with the sounds of the “Independence Ocean Sound Festival”, showcasing live performances by DJ’s as well as rock and fusion groups.<\/p>\n
