The First International Triennial of Caribbean Art is opening at the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo and will take place from 1 September to 24 October. The exhibition this year will focus on Art and the Environment. To be exhibited are works from the English, French, Spanish and Dutch-speaking Caribbean, from the Great Caribbean (Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela) and Central America. <\/p>\n
The event is organized by a committee made up by Maria Elena Ditren, director of the Museum; Amable Lopez Melendez, chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art; Marianne de Tolentino, director of the National Gallery of the Palace of Fine Arts (Bellas Artes); Sara Hermann, secretary of the Association of Dominican Art Critics; Abil Peralta Aguero, cultural coordinator for the Chamber of Deputies; Dustin Munoz, deputy director of Bellas Artes; and Rafael Read, cultural representative of the city government of Santo Domingo. <\/p>\n
Among the artists that will be participating are: Tony Capellan (DR), Maria Fernanda Cardoso (Colombia), Luis Cruz Azaceta (Cuba), Philippe Dodar (Haiti), Tirzo Martha (Curacao) and Pepon Osorio (Puerto Rico). <\/p>\n
