The leading carrier in the Dominican Republic, JetBlue Airways has teamed up with the DREAM Project and for what they are calling “a mile-high dream.” The partnership seeks to help public schools throughout the country. Students at a Ciudad Nueva public school in Santo Domingo, and another in San Jose de las Matas hosted a visit by JetBlue staff who went to paint classrooms, meet the students and teachers and share experiences with local community members. After a full day of working with members of the JetBlue crew, Albert Ruiz, JetBlue’s corporate social responsibility coordinator, presented to DREAM Project directors Mrs. Knight, Iris Margarita Ramirez and Elizabeth Urena a donation of books and JetBlue tickets to be used use in local initiatives for raising additional funding for schools.<\/p>\n
“We are very pleased partner with the DREAM Project and to be able, together, to make initiatives like these happen,” said JetBlue’s General Manager for the Dominican Republic, Kelvin Pabon. “JetBlue’s growth and consolidation in the Dominican Republic would not be possible without the ongoing support we’ve received from the community and are proud to reaffirm our commitment to it in return.”<\/p>\n
JetBlue operates more than 20 daily flights from the four largest airports in the DR – Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana.<\/p>\n
The DREAM Project (Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring Project) is a nonprofit foundation that provides quality education to thousands of Dominican children and promotes long-term projects aimed at alleviating the problems within the country’s education system.<\/p>\n
