The airport now has the capacity to handle more than two million passengers a year. <\/p>\n<p>As of September 2014, the airport had handled around 53% of almost 4.3 million arrivals to the DR, most headed for the Punta Cana resorts. <\/p>\n<p>The new terminal covers an area of 33,000 square meters and has the capacity to accommodate 6,500 passengers daily. <\/p>\n<p>The terminal has two passenger levels and a third level mezzanine for airline offices.
