20 January: Opening of presidential election campaign.<\/p>\n
26 January: Deadline for registration of expatriate voters abroad. The JCE hopes to register 30,000 Dominicans to vote in Canada, US, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Spain. <\/p>\n
3 February: Meeting of the JCE to approve the final list of political parties that will participate in the election. There are 21 parties approved, and another 14 that have requested approval. <\/p>\n
17 March: Deadline for political parties to register their candidates, one per organization, as per Electoral Law 275-97. There is a bill in Congress that seeks to reform this provision. <\/p>\n
7 May: Deadline for voting card centers to receive requests for registration and changes in data not for electoral purposes. <\/p>\n
14 May: Deadline for issuing voting card duplicates and end of the presidential election campaign. <\/p>\n
16 May: Election Day.<\/p>\n
